Thank you. Again.

Last May we published a post titled “Thank You.”  With the recent birth of our son, our hearts are full and we feel the need to express thanks again.

In November 2013 after years of hoping to be pregnant, I had to have surgery.  During the surgery, my doctor discovered that I would never be able to conceive another child without medical intervention.  We were heartbroken.  Financially, the expensive procedures that would make our dream of having another child a possibility seemed hopelessly out of reach.

The following spring an anonymous donor approached my family about donating to our cause if we could raise the other half of the money.  To our astonishment and gratitude, the Baby for Becky fundraiser was soon underway.  Thanks to the support and encouragement of so many, the fundraiser was successful.

In June we completed an IVF cycle.

In July we found out we were expecting.

One month ago this little sweetheart was born:

We kinda love him.  A lot.

(After more than seven years of hoping and waiting, my daughter is at last a big sister.)

A quote from Anne of Green Gables keeps coming to my mind lately…

“When I left Queen’s my future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road. I thought I could see along it for many a milestone. Now there is a bend in it. I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does. It has a fascination of its own, that bend, Marilla.”

That medical diagnosis was our future stretching straight out before us.  We were busy picking up the pieces of our dreams and reshaping them into something more “realistic” when the unexpected opportunity to do IVF opened up and so many miracles occurred.

A bend in the road.  A giant one.

Thank heavens for bends in the road.  And for miracles–God’s hand in our lives.  And for the love and support of dear family and friends.

Thank you!

  1. Do you still do the tale of three trees ornaments?? Or maybe you could give me the name of the local artist who did them originally?

    • Hello Jill! Thank you for the comment. We do not carry the Tale of Three Trees ornament sets anymore unfortunately nor is our original local artist an option. However we do carry beautiful olive wood cross ornaments made in Israel to symbolize the beautiful message of the third tree and the book.
