Matthew 25:1 “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.”
An authentic, oil lamp-lit dinner in ancient Jerusalem fashion is a beautiful, sensory way to celebrate Easter or Christmas with your family. Our family’s Christmas Eve “Jerusalem Dinner” is perhaps our longest standing tradition. You can read all about that at our blog here. We’ve recently begun adapting a passover meal as well at Easter time and these oil lamps have added tremendously to the ambience of the meal.
Our Herodian oil lamps are authentic to the style used during the time of Christ. They are made in Israel from clay. The interior of the lamp is glazed to prevent oil absorption. They are designed to burn olive oil, as they would have back then. Each lamp comes with a length of wick that can be adjusted to vary the flame’s brightness.
Whether you use them to create memorable meals with your family, to be alternative light sources with a ready fuel supply, or simply to display in your home as a symbol of the parable of the ten virgins, these oil lamps will be a great addition to your family’s traditions.
